The Internal Support Technician Intern will perform the same day-to-day tasks as our Internal Support Technicians but with more oversight and mentoring from our support team.  This position will support, including but not limited to desktops, laptops, smartphones, tablets, printers, copiers, desk phones, and audio/video/web conferencing equipment.


In addition, the IST can be called upon for the maintenance, upgrades, configurations, and deployments of hardware and software, low voltage cabling work, the setup and configuration of conference rooms, and supporting the technology required for onsite and offsite meetings, including recording and facilitating.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily end user workstation, peripheral, and device repair, support, and management.
  • Provision employees in our systems as required by onboarding, transfer, and separation.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstation operating systems and essential software.
  • Participate in internal support team activities and handle tickets through service desk.
  • Centralized management of software (e.g. antivirus, audio/video/web/conferencing, chat, directory, email, network drives, phone system, security system).
  • Ensure appropriate IT services are configured, tested, and supported over the VPN for remote employees.
  • Support audio/video/web conferencing equipment and associated conference room technology.
  • Assist with the presentation, remote collaboration, sound, and recording requirements for various company meetings.
  • Trace and replace defective electronic, network, and phone cabling
  • Maintain, organize, and label IT asset inventory.
  • Document and maintain policies and procedures, both for team use as well as employee-facing support articles.
  • Instruct and train users in use of computer hardware, systems and applications.
  • Keep abreast of changes occurring in technology and the best approach for keeping systems current, and the best course and timing for software upgrades.
  • Work with department manager to research and procure equipment.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as directed by management.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degreed or certificate program; recent graduates will also be considered.  
  • Knowledge of PC and Mac workstations and peripherals, iOS and Android devices, printers, copiers, IP desk phones, and audio/video/web conferencing equipment.
  • Experience with the Microsoft business ecosystem (Server, Active Directory, Exchange, DFS, Office 365).
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to disseminate technical information to non-technical employees.
  • The majority of your time will be spent at a desk using a phone, computer and monitor, and general office equipment. You may be required to reach with hands and arms; sit; stand; talk and hear; use your hands to finger, handle, or feel.
